After digging out the old Risk board for a few games, I'm beginning to remember why it spent the last couple of years at the back of the closet: The stupid freaking dice.
Whether it's Risk, Settlers of Catan, or even Warhammer, nothing frustrates me quick so much as having the best laid plans cast asunder by a string of poor dice luck. I know that all games have some randomizing factor, but there are at least some like Puerto Rico that have only a minimal randomizer, and rely more on strategy and planning than on getting good rolls.
So, what are some other games that someone like myself might enjoy, oh wise and magnanimous OGO?
